The time to cast your vote and be heard isn’t far off! No, we’re not referring to “that” election. Instead, we’re talking about ҹ51xxtv® voting in October as it pertains to selecting Area representatives to serve on the ҹ51xxtv® Board of Directors. This matter is being publicized today because ҹ51xxtv voting procedures have changed and we want to give everyone ample time to make the small adjustment needed that ensures votes will be received and counted.
Recall that during ҹ51xxtv’s 2019 voting process, the membership overwhelmingly approved a change to ҹ51xxtv bylaws relating to voting on matters put in front of them. The endorsed change allows official ҹ51xxtv notification/communication to now be delivered in either written or electronic media (e.g., email). Today, notices from ҹ51xxtv can be communicated in person, by U.S. postal mail or other method of delivery, by email or other electronic means, or by publication in SportsCar Magazine or any publication routinely provided by the Club to members. As such, the Area Director selection process in 2020 will primarily be conducted via email with support information posted to ҹ51xxtv.com about candidates and how to cast votes. Today, ҹ51xxtv members are being reminded how to cast votes via electronic balloting.
To begin, it’s important the ҹ51xxtv National Office has an appropriate email address on file, one you actually review and read regularly.
To review the email address on file with the National Office:
- Visit the Member Account Portal (MAP) at
- Log in using your member number and password (or use the "Forgot Password" link to reset)
- Once logged in, click “Edit Contact Information” on the “My Profile” page
- Click “Edit” under “My Email Addresses” if a change is required.
- Lastly, be sure to save the update.
The National Office assumes you have “opted in” to electronic delivery of ballots unless specifically “opting out.” Those opting out will have physical ballots mailed to them the week of October 5 so they may vote on Area Director candidates -- if their Area Director is up for selection this year.
How do you opt out of electronic email balloting? We’ll tell you that in a moment. But first we’d like to remind everyone that the purpose behind last year’s bylaw update was to bring ҹ51xxtv into modern times, provide significant savings, and supply the Club with an option that efficiently updates bylaws compliant with Connecticut statutes -- the state where ҹ51xxtv is incorporated. While the Club, as a whole, benefits fiscally by not delivering ballots by mail, there is the understanding that some may insist on receiving physical ballots to their tangible mailboxes.
If you still wish to opt out of electronic balloting:
- Visit the online (MAP).
- Log in using your member number and password (or use the "Forgot Password" link to reset)
- Once logged in, click "Edit Contact Info" on the "My Profile Page."
- Click "Edit Subscriptions" in the lower right under the "Email Subscriptions" section.
- Put a check in the box next to "Opt Out of Electronic Balloting."
- Lastly, be sure to "Save" changes.
For those with queries regarding administration of electronic balloting and communications, ҹ51xxtv created an FAQ web page that answers many questions. If further difficulties are experienced, please contact membership@scca.com for help. The deadline to opt out of electronic balloting is October 1.
