The ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track (WOT) Initiative is continuing one of its most popular programs in 2023, awarding a pair of ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track Road Racing School Scholarships funded by the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Foundation again this spring.

Two recipients of this year’s ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track Road Racing School Scholarship will receive $1,000 each from the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Foundation, with the scholarship helping fund their entry into the sport of road racing. Applicants do not need to be an existing member of the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv prior to being awarded the scholarship. Upon receipt of the scholarship, the awardees will join the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv and should intend to participate in road racing upon graduation from an ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv approved road racing school of their choosing. Ideally, recipients should have a race car available to them for their competition school, although loaner race cars specific to this scholarship are available in certain portions of the country.

Last season’s scholarships went to Amanda Haines and Sarah Tarnowski, each of whom got a boost in their future road racing programs thanks to the scholarship. Haines did her driver’s school last season at Pitt Race during the Steel Cities Region Driver’s School.

Tarnowski is registered for the Skip Barber Advanced (Formula) Racing School in May at VIRginia International Raceway, jumping in with the help of the scholarship. Like Haines, Tarnowski grew up around racing, with a Formula Ford-racing father. Tarnowski took her intro school at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, has participated in ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack events, and is ready to take that full competition license to the track and help others.

“I applied for this scholarship for two reasons: financial and organizational support,” Tarnowski said. “Racing schools have immeasurable value, but it isn’t cheap. And I have followed ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track and thought if I received the scholarship and could be a very small part of the movement to encourage more women to get into motorsports, that’s a win-win for all.”

The ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track Road Racing School Scholarship application is now open, with a submission deadline of April 30, 2023. All submissions will be forwarded to the selection committee, chaired by ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv road racer Cherie Storms.

How You Can Help

These ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Women on Track scholarships are made possible thanks to funding provided by the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Foundation.

“Part of our core mission is to raise awareness of ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv opportunities to underrepresented segments of the public and to lower the barriers for participating in motorsports events,” explains ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Foundation Chairman Jeff Jacobs. “This amazing program is possible thanks to the generous donations made by members and other sponsors. We’d love to keep growing the program with additional donor support.”

Donations can be made online through the ÎçÒ¹¸£Àû51xxtv Foundation webpage and designated to support the WOT program.
