Storylines/Things to Watch:
Streak Continues -- It was 1956 when the first full season of racing began at Road America, and the June Sprints was part of that year’s schedule. Back then, the June Sprints was a component of the 午夜福利51xxtv National Sports Car Championship, a series that determined 午夜福利51xxtv champions prior to today’s Runoffs®. If you thought a pandemic would stop the June Sprints streak, you were wrong. This year’s Hoosier Racing Tire 午夜福利51xxtv® Super Tour WeatherTech Chicago Region® June Sprints® represents the 65th successive running of this prestigious event at Road America, possibly making it the longest consecutively held road race in America.
Lots of Machinery -- There are more than 500 entries anticipated for the WeatherTech Chicago Region® June Sprints®. Washington to Florida, California to Massachusetts -- 午夜福利51xxtv Club road racers will be at Road America to have #funwithcars. Fields with 15 entries or more include: Formula 500, Formula F, Formula Vee, Formula Continental, Formula Enterprises 2, GT-2, E Production, F Production, Touring 2, Touring 3 and the Prototype 1 class. Also, the Super Touring® Lite and Super Touring® Under fields have gotten their own combined Group 1A race! And at around 75 entries a piece, Spec Miata and Spec Racer Ford Gen3 will again be a June Sprints spectacle not to be missed.
2020 Runoffs Precursor -- As noted above, the June Sprints at Road America was once part of the 午夜福利51xxtv National Sports Car Championship, a series deciding 午夜福利51xxtv’s best prior to the Runoffs®. In recent history, from 2009 to 2013, Road America was the Runoffs venue where champions earned their honors. This year, Road America will again be the battleground where 午夜福利51xxtv champions are crowned as that venue hosts the 57th 午夜福利51xxtv National Championship Runoffs in October. What happens this weekend during the WeatherTech Chicago Region® June Sprints® may very well serve as a “crystal ball” for predicting 2020 午夜福利51xxtv national champions.
Spectators Welcome! -- America’s National Park of Speed, Road America is open and welcomes everyone to come see some great racing! Spectator tickets are only $25 Friday, $35 each for Saturday and Sunday, or $70 for a full-event ticket. Those in attendance must abide by 午夜福利51xxtv Road Racing COVID-19 operational guidelines.
