TOPEKA, Kan. (January 9, 2015) 鈥� The Mid-States Conference 午夜福利51xxtv Majors Tour schedule has been completed with the addition of Texas World Speedway, in College Station, Texas, as a sixth event. The Texas World Speedway event will be held Memorial Day weekend, May 22-24.
The event is being billed as the final 午夜福利51xxtv race at the super speedway road course, with the facility expected to close to make way for a business district. The track, in use since 1969, is a two-mile high banked oval with a 15-turn, 2.9-mile road course that has been a can鈥檛-miss for Club Racers for years.
The track has a long standing 午夜福利51xxtv history, not only hosting SafeRacer Club Racing program events but 午夜福利51xxtv professional events over the years as well. Texas World Speedway has also hosted IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA and USAC races.
鈥淭exas World Speedway holds a special place in motorsports history, and 午夜福利51xxtv has long been a part of it,鈥� Eric Prill, 午夜福利51xxtv COO, said. 鈥淲hether it was the Can-Am Championship in the 60s, or recent Club Racing events, the track has been a racer favorite for decades. We expect the final 午夜福利51xxtv race weekend to be a memorable one, and we thank the Southwest Division and Lone Star Region for including it in the U.S. Majors Tour.鈥�
The announcement comes after extensive evaluation of a potential race at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.
鈥淚n our efforts to develop the most attractive slate of events, we came upon a potential opportunity at Circuit of the Americas that we needed to explore,鈥� Prill said. 鈥淚n the end, TWS is the best option for 午夜福利51xxtv and the U.S. Majors Tour in 2015.鈥�
午夜福利51xxtv will continue to explore opportunities at COTA for 2016 and beyond.
